We also hope that you will get to know us and come to think of Leo's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria as one of the many good things about living in Cornwall. From the day we opened in 1981, Leo's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria has been a family-run Italian restaurant. Leo still makes pizzas at times, but more importantly, he is making sure the quality of the food and service always meet his high standards. Gasper, Frankie and Danny, are also on-hand to ensure that your dining experience, whether it be one slice of pizza or a full-course dinner, will be pleasurable. We offer a full menu of pizza, calzones, hero sandwiches, and complete dinners.

Leo’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria Turns 25
Leo’s.
The name is not only synonymous with the best authentic Italian dining in the Hudson Valley, it’s now officially an institution.
This Memorial Day weekend, Leo’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria celebrates its 25th anniversary. While much has changed in the world during the last quarter-century, and countless restaurants have come and gone, Leo’s commitment to its customers remains the same: the most delicious food, a great value, and friendly, caring service.
The Leo’s story really begins in 1970, when Leo Maniscalchi opened Roma Imperial, his first restaurant, in the Newburgh area. Then, on Memorial Day 1981, he opened the doors to Leo’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria in Cornwall.
The rest, as the saying goes, is history – 25 years’ worth. Many slices of pizza and many pounds of spaghetti along with gallons of tomato sauce, have been consumed by many customers in the past 25 years.
During that time, Leo’s sons – Danny, Gasper, and Frank – joined him in creating one of the most beloved eateries in the area. Since that first Memorial Day weekend, Leo’s has expanded with a new dining room in Cornwall, added a full selection of cocktails to go along with the wine, beer and soft drinks that have always been available, and opened a 2nd Leo’s location in Newburgh in 2003.
How does any business succeed for so long? The answer is both easy and hard: give your customers what they want so they keep coming back for more. Leo’s customers, old and new, have been coming back for 25 years.
That’s because both Leo’s locations, in Cornwall and Newburgh, offer a complete menu, including appetizers and antipasti, everyone’s favorite pasta dishes, full-course dinners featuring chicken, veal, and seafood cooked to perfection, hot and cold hero sandwiches, calzone, stromboli, and a variety of weekly specials. Of course, the full selection of Leo’s famous pizzas, including regular, Sicilian, and personal size, with all the toppings, are also available. Diners are welcome to enjoy their selection at one of Leo’s cozy tables or call and have their favorite pizza or Italian meal delivered. In addition, Leo’s is able to cater any occasion with any or all of the items on the menu as well as prepare special-requests.
While 25 years is quite a milestone for any endeavor, Leo and the rest of the Maniscalchi’s aren’t just sitting back and congratulating themselves on their accomplishment. Later this year, the third Leo’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria will open in Fishkill. The new location is across from the Renegades baseball stadium on route 9D.
Though Mr. Leo isn’t working as hard as he did 25 years ago and is enjoying semi-retirement, Danny, Gasper, and Frank are carrying on the tradition he established. That’s what makes a real family restaurant – a real family.
